A Message from Interim Dean Crane

I am excited to announce that Dr. Mandy Marney will be the new Director of UW Extension and Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources. Dr. Marney has been part of our team since 2020 and has contributed significantly to our mission of serving Wyoming communities.

In her new role, Dr. Marney will continue to drive positive change, collaborating with our college leadership, extension administration team, and field faculty. She brings extensive experience in extension programming, especially in areas such as 4-H, community vitality, and health. Her leadership, expertise, and passion for community engagement will undoubtedly enrich our collective efforts.

Please join me in extending a warm

welcome to Dr. Mandy Marney as

she embarks on this new chapter

beginning April 29th.

Warm regards,

Kelly Crane

Civil Rights & Reporting

Extension Engage

The county civil rights training and reviews for 2024 were conducted in Big Horn, Sheridan, Uinta, and Laramie Counties. I appreciate the educators and staff’s commitment to reaching and serving the diverse clientele in their communities. The next 4 counties that are scheduled for training and review in 2025 are Albany, Crook, Fermont, and Platte Counties. A general reminder to all Extension educators; as part of our ongoing commitment to promoting a workplace that values diversity, it is crucial to ensure that discussions on civil rights are actively taking place in staff meetings. A few questions to help guide the discussions: Are we meeting the diverse demographic and geographic needs of our clientele? Is a non-discrimination statement included on all Extension publications and pubic facing documents? A link to the UW Extension disclaimers can be found on the employee resources at: https://wyoextension.org/employee_resources/marketing-materials/.

CNP

We are gearing up for another year of Grow a Little Extra. CNP Educators have received seeds from the First Lady’s office and will be distributing them to county Extension offices. Seeds are available for at no cost to community gardeners that are willing to Grow a Little Extra for local donations to hunger relief agencies. Please connect with your local CNP Educator regarding seed distribution and donations. Kira met with the county administrative staff on their monthly call to outline the process.

Here are links to Grow a Little Extra social media post templates and a how to video for county use:

More information will be coming soon regarding donations.

Mindy, Kira, and Morgan McCullough from DFS met with Senator Barrasso and with Senator Lummis and Congresswoman Hageman’s aides. We shared the CNP highlight report and discussed our accomplishments and success stories. We also shared the report with the Department of Family Services at the state level and with our regional partners at FNS, along with our National liaisons at NIFA. Please share the highlight report with your local county commissioners and other stakeholders to highlight the great work we are doing statewide. Additionally, Kali has designed a county template so that county CNP highlights can be compiled and presented to local stakeholders. Please let the CNP state office know if you need highlight reports. The county highlight report templates can be found on the CNP Employee Resources site.
